What Tamakani Is About

Following the empowering changes led by the Kingdom in 2018, women across Saudi Arabia have now had new opportunities to pursue their ambitions. With that being said, we launched Tamakani the following year. As our contribution to the movement, Tamakani is our woman empowerment platform with the goal to inspire 1 million Saudi Women by 2030.

The initiative feature three key pillars including, Amplifying Voices, Facilitating Mentorship, and Fostering Entrepreneurship, to bridge the varying gaps we found in the market.

Our platform and its pillars highlight the latest steps taken by PepsiCo over the years to distinguish Saudi Arabia as a modern society and economic powerhouse.  To launch the platform, we collaborated with Eggdancer Productions, to produce a documentary showcasing the changing social landscape of Saudi Arabia through the lens of influential Saudi women, from the past 50 years.

For our Amplifying Voices pillar, we partnered with the Family Affair Council to launch the Mozn Podcast. The first podcast in the kingdom to bring attention to stories from local Saudi women and showcase the women behind the professional titles and the stories that have shaped their goals, values, and personalities.

As we continue to set the tone of providing never-before-seen opportunities in the Kingdom, we have also partnered with AmCham, under our PepsiCo-sponsored Women in Business Committee, to launch the Diwaniya quarterly event.

Under the Facilitating mentorship pillar, we have collaborated with Princess Noura University to sponsor the ‘Qudwah’ program. The program aids Saudi women to take up the mantle of leadership, by connecting them with accomplished leaders to advance their professional goals and leadership potential.

Joining forces with AmCham once again to sponsor the WIB Mentorship Program, under the Women in Business Committee, it aims to connect 20 mentors and 40 mentees in a one-to-one setting to increase knowledge and exchange experiences.

The statistic further sheds light on Tamakani’s Fostering Entrepreneurship Pillar, where we partnered with the Atlantic Council to sponsor the WIN Fellowship Program. The program launched in April 2022 and goes on for a 12-month period to support 33 Saudi women entrepreneurs.

Setting out to equip women with the necessary tools, knowledge, skills, and networks to become impactful leaders, we have been doing so through relevant partnerships with associates dedicated to empowering women, who share our vision and values as a brand. Amplifying Voices with Mozn Podcast

On the latest episode of the Mozn Podcast, PepsiCo celebrates Saudi Arabian history with Noof Nooh, the first Saudi female plant manager across the Kingdom. As a pioneering employee and figure in the industry, Noof serves as an inspiration to young women looking to enter the industrial business and explore the career opportunities within.

Shedding light on inclusivity and women empowerment across the male-dominated field, Noof’s journey has propelled her into a fruitful career, despite the hardships. With an undergraduate degree in Biology, teaching was seen as the only career option ahead of her at the time. She kickstarted her career as a teacher at the Um Al -Qura Charity Association’s first school for children with determination in Makkah. While she enjoyed her time aiding the community, her personal interest in having a larger impact on society was growing progressively. With support from the Al Nahda Association, Noof’s journey took an exciting turn into her dream career field.

Seen as a ‘male only’ career by society, Noof’s passion for the role drove her even more to prove that, in fact, it is a professional, organized, and empowering environment that can foster successful careers for women. With PepsiCo’s support, Noof has become a true testament to this as she excels in varying tasks and has shed light on the opportunities available for women and gives them hope for their futures. Noof recalls how PepsiCo’s continuous efforts have exceeded expectations as the first Saudi female forklift driver was from our food and snacks plant.

The podcast episode offers important insight into her efforts to break new ground — along with the glass ceiling — by excelling in the male-dominated industrial field. The episode underlines PepsiCo’s commitment to effecting positive change across all levels of Saudi business and society, not least by empowering women to fulfil their potential.

The PepsiCo-sponsored, MOZN podcast was launched in partnership with the Family Affairs Counsel (FAC) to create an engaging vehicle for women to discuss the roles they have played in the Kingdom’s growth and development. In line with Vision 2030, PepsiCo Positive, and the PepsiCo Way, Nooh’s success sets a new benchmark for inclusivity in the Saudi world of work. PepsiCo is dedicated to inspiring 1 million Saudi female by 2030 to achieve their goals, which it aims to accomplish through its women empowerment platform, Tamakani.

Amplifying Voices with Mozn Podcast

This episode spotlights PepsiCo Legal Director, Yara Al Zouman; charting her life and recounting the successes and accomplishments she has achieved over the course of her 13-year career.

An inspiring listen animated by several nuggets of wisdom, the episode maps out the many milestones Yara — and, by extension, the Kingdom — has crossed over the years. It details her progression in the legal field, calling attention to the country’s transformation and ongoing push to empower more women to break the glass ceiling and fulfil their potential — particularly in the male-dominated world of law.

Painting a vivid picture of her growth as a woman, mother and experienced professional, she insightfully frames her journey from a legal researcher to the General Counsel & Legal Director of PepsiCo — one of the world’s leading food and beverage companies — in an educational light, citing her success as a testament to what women across Saudi Arabia can achieve when equipped with the tools to succeed.

As with the entire MOZN series, Yara’s episode is hosted by Shams Al Sabi. The podcast calls attention to PepsiCo’s work to advance diversity and inclusion — not just across all aspects of the company’s operations — but in the Kingdom as a whole. The episode emphasizes PepsiCo’s commitment to empowering more women and girls to emulate Yara’s success — to be unwavering in their determination to aspire, excel and turn their dreams into reality.

In keeping with Vision 2030, PepsiCo Positive and the PepsiCo Way, Yara’s story is one that demands to be shared, setting a positive example for others to follow. PepsiCo aims to ensure that more women are provided the opportunity to author their very own success stories, encouraging them to do so through offerings and initiatives such as the Tamakani platform.

Yara
